"Suburban Blues Action"
This was the release event of the 9 issue of BAU, which i've been talkin about for a while now. Few of the artist involved in this issue did some performances for the event in the beatifull hall and gallery of the museum GAMC in Viareggio. Nei balloons dei fumetti, l'immagine di una lampadina accesa ci fa capire con immediatezza che il personaggio in questione è stato colto da un'idea luminosa. Un'ampia rete di operatori attivi nelle più diverse discipline, collegati tra loro, danno origine ad un'energia creativa che l'associazione culturale BAU mette in circolo dal 2004 tramite la rivista-laboratorio BAU Contenitore di Cultura Contemporanea, un cofanetto formato UniA4 edito a cadenza annuale con contributi originali di autori internazionali impegnati nella sperimentazione di nuovi linguaggi. Electro BAU è l'espressione che meglio fotografa questa situazione ed è anche il titolo del nuovo numero Nove che verrà presentato in anteprima alla GAMC di Viareggio, a cura della redazione BAU, domenica 22 Aprile dalle ore 17.00 alle 19.30, con un ricco programma di performance, interventi sonori, installazioni e video di alcuni dei novantatre autori inclusi nella "scatola".

Il Contenitore BAU - presente in prestigiosi Musei, biblioteche e collezioni private nazionali e internazionali - si inserisce nella vasta tradizione delle riviste d'artista e ad assemblaggio sviluppatasi fin dagli anni Sessanta. In un'ottica relazionale e non competitiva, sensibile ai rapporti tra arte, scienza, politica e ambiente, BAU è un punto d'incontro che stimola dialoghi, confronti e scambi tra le più varie discipline: grafica, collage, fotografia e arti visuali in genere, ma anche ricerche poetiche e narrative, esperienze acustiche e performative, documenti legati al mondo della moda e del design, ecc. La rete operativa di BAU si esprime anche nella progettazione di mostre, convegni, rassegne ed eventi.

Il We Play music & art Festival non è un evento convenzionale per la città di Pisa.
Il Festival, presentato dall'Associazione culturale Uma Creative Project, nella sera di sabato 10 marzo trasformerà il Palazzo dei Congressi in un grande contenitore musicale e artistico dove musica elettronica, arte contemporanea, fotografia,visual art e divertimento si fonderanno in un unico evento, dando un nuovo impulso vitale alla città di Pisa.

La mostra è nata a Spezia alla Galleria il Gabbiano e con il contributo di Sergio Borrini. Lo Studio Gennai la ripropone a Pisa in una nuova versione.
I curatori di questa rassegna hanno raccolto le opere di venti artisti che, in tempi diversi, hanno lavorato su questa incredibile superficie. Infatti lo specchio non ha solo la capacità di riprodurre la realtà che ci circonda come mero ripetitore dell'esistente, ma assume anche valori altri che coinvolgono la nostra sfera psichica. Le opere scelte per questa esposizione dimostrano, oltre alle diverse capacità realizzative, come ogni artista abbia manifestato anche il suo coinvolgimento emotivo misurandosi con questo materiale. Si va da interpretazioni ludiche ad altre concettuali, dalla negazione stessa della superficie alle citazioni storiche, fino al mito di Narciso. Un'affascinante miscellanea che cattura l'osservatore rendendo lui stesso interprete partecipe di un coinvolgente ... gioco di specchi.

Finally some pics (courtesy of mr Alberto Martini, always there at the right moment!) of the opening of "Controlled Chaos", the exhibit that i had with Bizarre Dee, Zedz and Linea Piatta at Cantiere San Bernardo in Pisa. We had fun working together and the party had a really cool vibe.
Pretty soon we'll put online a short video about the making of the whole show. You will like it...
CONTROLLED CHAOS 7-october-11
"CONTROLLED CHAOS" is the upcoming group show @ Cantiere San Bernardo in Pisa, featuring Zedz from Amsterdam, Bizarre Dee from Roma, Linea Piatta and little me. The opening will be on friday 7th october.
Me and Bizarre Dee have a rough, funky and sometimes dirty style of painting, while Zedz and Linea Piatta are known for their unmistakable geometrical style; the result is supposed to be a friendly "clash" of different visions from artists with similar backgrounds.
The exhibit is the "indoor" part of the event called RossoVitamina. The "outdoor" part will be at Campo Sportivo Comunale Abetone in Pisa on 8th-9th october where the same artists will perform a wall painting session.

"in LIBERtà - Libri d'artista", 17 settembre - 23 ottobre
This thing is deeply fascinating. As you probably already know there's a whole tradition out there of artists doing their own books. These books are true artworks in their deepest meaning: often we are talking about unique pieces or very limited-exclusive editions. The most different materials, forms and techniques get used to produce these pieces: the only basic rule is to stick to the concept of book or, in other words, the book has to be intended as a work of art in itself.
I got into it through my friend Delio Gennai who is organizing the upcoming group show "In LIBER-tà Libri d'artista Percorsi tra esperienze storiche e ricerche contemporanee" in our beloved hometown Pisa: sometimes ago he asked me to do a piece for the exhibition. I had such a good time doing this that i ended up doing three pieces. Two of them will be shown in the exhibition and the third one you can see it in those pictures. Of course artist's books are pretty different from what i usually do, but i think it's really "healthy" to get out of your little comfort zone every now and then.
If you're in Pisa from 17th september till 23rd october you absolutely have to check the show, which is gonna be pretty much interesting: it's located in four different places and it hosts the books of a lot of different artists.

Hello everybody once again! After a long pause i'm finally back online..

COSMIC FLOATING, PICS AND VIDEO 27-05-11
Some pics from the exhibition "Cosmic Floating" at Dispenser Milano Gallery, plus the video of the painting i did on the outside wall.
The idea of the wall was about bringin back the concept of my series of paintings "Street Crumbs"; i just tried to adapt it at the wallpainting thing: i didn't past any paper but did everything with acrylic and spray paint to give the illusion of the ripped shreds of paper. It's not the first time i do this kind of work, which is different from the traditional graffiti i used to do on walls: i'll talk about this further and add few pics.
The opening was a nice and relaxed evening and i was happy cause few friends i haven't seen in ages showed up to say hallo and share some beers.
COSMIC FLOATING, 10-05-11
DISPENSER MILANO opens my new solo exhibition on friday 20th of May at 19.00 pm.
"COSMIC FLOATING" will feature all the new paintings and some other stuff, plus a site specific intervention on the exterior wall.
Fritz Da Cat, a well known name of the hiphop underground scene, will perform at the vernissage.
